As we enter this blessed Christmas season, I look back on this past year, and I’m filled with gratitude for each one of you. The Church at its very best is an outward looking, caring organisation with both the limits of us human members and with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Christmas reminds us of God’s extraordinary love made known in Jesus Christ – a light that shines with hope for the whole world. Jesus’ birth calls us to kindness, compassion, and a deeper understanding of one another, no matter our backgrounds or journeys. Our histories, whatever they hold, must be blessed in the love of Christ so that we can use our brokenness to serve other people. Recently there’s a term called ‘Compassion Fatigue’ A sense of being tired of the challenges of the world. Many right-wing groups use this exhaustion to build a narrative of fear, and outrage. But we must all keep our eyes on the light and love of Christ.
This season, may we open our hearts to the peace the angels proclaimed, a peace meant for all people. May Christ’s love inspire us to listen more gently, serve more freely, and welcome others with the same grace God so generously gives to us. Whether you are celebrating surrounded by family, connecting across distances, or carrying both joys and burdens into this season, I pray that the presence of Christ meets you where you are. May the days ahead bring moments of rest, joy, and renewed hope. And for you, whoever you are, please know that Christ loves you more than you’ll ever know. Do please look at our church websites, you would be welcome at any of our services and activities. All are welcome.
Wishing you a Christmas filled with God’s love and a New Year overflowing with blessings and much peace for all those you love.
With peace and warmest greetings,
Stephen Monk (Revd)
