Intercession Prayers for Holy Communion January 6th 2019

In the power of the Spirit and in union with Christ, let us pray to the Father. At At the beginning of this season of Epiphany and post Christmas, let us pray for the peace of the whole world, for the welfare of the Holy Church of God and for unity for all. We pray for all those who pray for their lives to change: For those who battle daily hunger, for those who fear domestic violence, for those who cannot get necessary medicine, for those who are forced into early marriage, for those who walk miles for unsanitary water, for those denied access to education, for those who watch drought destroy crops, for those who do not even hope for change.

Not by might, nor by power:

ALL But by my Spirit says the Lord Almighty.

Dear Father, Lead them out of this. Lead them to a world where hunger truly scandalises, and no longer exists. Where domestic abuse is no longer acceptable, where preventable diseases are prevented. Where early marriage is banned in both law and practice, where water is clean and acceptable, where opportunities are accessed equally, where rains come with predicable regularity, where despair does not overwhelm.

Not by might, nor by power:

ALL But by my Spirit says the Lord Almighty.

You who can overcome the world, help us to be agents of change, across all the world. We pray for the CPAS, the Church Pastoral Aid Society, and for Catherine Truman, working as a Pharmacist in Vellore, India. Help all to love one another as you have loved us and give them strength and funding to continue with this work.

Not by might, nor by power:

ALL But by my Spirit says the Lord Almighty.

Dear Father, give us the understanding to go forward in Grace with our risen Lord that the light of the world, our Lord, may shine in all dark places. Dear Lord, especially at this time we bring to you all Christians everywhere persecuted for following you. Grant us all an understanding of these awful events and help all their families and friends to gain peace and understanding.

May the decisions made reflect the hopes of everyone who supports the Whitworth Hospital and other hospitals in the area. Dear Father, please look with care and compassion on all who are bereaved, lonely and sick, bring your loving care to their suffering in your name. ——-We shall have a few moments to think of anyone we know personally, at this special time and ask our Father to look on them with care and compassion.
