Events for 2018 at St Mary’s Church together with Cromford Mills

On the first Saturday of every month there will be a COFFEE MORNING at the Community Centre on Cromford Marketplace. Hosted by St Mary’s Church coffee and biscuits, and soft drinks and all facilities are free to visitors who wish to come. All are welcome and visitors who wish for prayer or a good old fashioned natter will be made very welcome. Approach any member of staff and they will help you.

A Hunting we will Go. Saturday March 31st to Monday 2nd April 2018. Various Activities at Cromford Mills many suitable for children. St Mary’s Church open 12.00am to 2.30pm. Saturday, Sunday and Monday with organ recitals on each day.

May Day Celebrations Saturday May 5th, to Monday 7th May is a celebration weekend. There will be various activities at the mill including May pole dancing. The church will be open for the three days from 12.00am to 2.30pm and there will be organ recitals.

Derbyshire Weekend will be held on Saturday 26th to Monday 28th May. A weekend full of everything Derbyshire with St Mary’s Church being open on Saturday 26th May 11.30 to 2.30pm.

Celebrating Cromford Weekend  will be held on Friday 15th to Sunday 17th JUNE from 10.00 til 4.00. The Mill are delighted to be part of this activity and a visit to the Arkwright Experience is highly recommended.  St Mary’s Church will be open from 11.30am to 2.30pm with organ recitals periodically. A Morning Worship Service will be held on Scarthin at Cromford at 11.00am and all are welcome. There will be many interesting stalls on Scarthin from Friday 15th June and various other activities around the village.

A Live PerformanStce – On Saturday July 14th at 7.00pm there will be a performance of The Singular Exploits of Sherlock Holmes by acclaimed actor Jonathan Goodwin in church. Booking is recommended at the Mill.

Super Heroes Save The Day on Saturday August 28th and Sunday August 29th 10.00am to 4.00pm. St Mary’s will be open 11.30am to 2.30pm.

Scarecrow Festival Saturday 4th August to Monday 6th August, 10.00 – 4.00pm.  On Saturday August 25th Church open 11.30 – 2.30pm.

Pirates and Princesses Weekend. Ahoy there! over the Bank Holiday Weekend. Saturday August 25th to Monday 27th August.  St Mary’s Church open 11.30am to 2.30pm on Saturday August 25th.

Saturday September 1st Dog Show at Cromford Mills 11am to 4.00pm.

Wedding Fayre at Cromford Mills. St Mary’s Church will be open from 11.00am to 3.00pm  with a view to showing what a wonderful facility St Mary’s Church is for wedding celebrations.

Mill Heritage Weekend, Thursday 6th September 1.30pm to 3.00pm (free) ‘Women in the Mill’. St Mary’s Church open 10.00 to 4.00pm. Friday September 7th, ‘Rule and Riot’ tour (free).  St Mary’s open 10am to 4.00pm.  Saturday September 8th ‘Cotton to Canals’ (free). St Mary’s open 10.00am to 12.00pm, as there is a wedding in the afternoon and Sunday September 9th ‘Cromford Village’ tour, St Mary’s open 11.00am to 4.00pm.

Outdoor Weekend Saturday September 15th and Sunday 16th Outdoor Activities at the Mill, including lots of fun for the children. St Mary’s Church open Saturday 11.30am to 2.30pm.

Pumpkin Carving at the Mill, October 15th and 16th.

Halloween at the Mill Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October.

First World War Centenary at the Mill Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November 10am to 4pm. A weekend to mark 100 years since the end of conflict. There will be a service to mark Remembrance and Armistice Day, the British Legion will hold a service at St Mary’s Church at 2.00pm. All welcome.

Buxton Studio Choir will be in St Mary’s Church on November 17th at 7.00pm, A fun evening full of fabulous songs and contemporary music. Cost is £10, and early booking is recommended.

Out with the Old. A table top sale December 2nd 10am to 4pm at the Mill.

Winter Wonderland Saturday December 8th and Sunday December 9th 10.00am to 4pm. St Mary’s Church will be open 10.00am to 4.00pm. Visitors welcome.

Christmas Dinner on Friday 21st December at 5.45pm to 7.15pm at the Arkwrights’s Cafe. This will be followed by a CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE with a selection of festive readings. Commencing 7.15pm at the Mill follow the footpath and Wassail to St Mary’s Church to commence the true meaning of Christmas. All welcome at church and there is no charge although donations are welcome.
